Do you track me?
No. There is no analytics package, no advertising network, no tracking pixel, and no third-party script of any kind running on this site.
Do you use cookies?
No. The site sets no cookies. If you change your reading preferences using the panel in the corner, your choices for text size, contrast, and motion are stored in your browser's local storage on your own device. That data never leaves your machine and is never sent to us. You can clear it any time by clearing site data in your browser.
This is also why there is no cookie banner. We would rather not set cookies than ask you to dismiss a notice about them.
What about fonts and images?
Both are served from this domain. The typefaces are downloaded at build time and hosted here rather than loaded from Google Fonts, so browsing this site does not tell Google you visited. Photographs are downloaded from their original sources at build time and served from here for the same reason.
What about the headline ticker?
The ticker shows recent federal rulemaking from the Federal Register. Your browser requests it from this site, and this site fetches it from the Federal Register. Your IP address is never exposed to federalregister.gov.
What does get logged?
This site runs on Cloudflare Workers. Cloudflare processes standard request data, including IP addresses, to deliver pages and protect against attacks. That is infrastructure logging we do not control, do not use for analytics, and do not combine with anything else. Cloudflare acts as our service provider and is bound by its own terms.
What about links out?
We link to government sources constantly. Once you follow a link, you are on someone else's site under their privacy practices, not ours.
Links in labeled Rehost sponsor modules include campaign parameters identifying Federal Weekly and the placement you clicked. They do not include your email address, name, or another personal identifier. We do not run a Rehost script, advertising pixel, or third-party tracker on this site.
What does the newsletter collect?
If you join the Weekly Brief, we store the email address you enter, the signup placement, the time of signup, a random confirmation token, and a pending subscription status in our Cloudflare D1 database. We do not sell or share the list. Email delivery is not active yet, so new addresses remain pending until confirmation email is available.
Do you sell or share personal information?
No. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are used in the California Consumer Privacy Act, and we have nothing to sell or share even if we wanted to. We also do not meet the CCPA's coverage thresholds, which we happen to have written about.
What happens when this changes?
Analytics is planned but is not active. Before it ships, this page will be updated with the provider, the data collected, the retention period, and how to opt out.
